Who we are:

We are Wolfgang und Dorothea Landes from Karlsruhe (Germany). Since 1995 we work as Missionaries en Bolivia, since January 1999 in Los Chacos.

The picture was made in December 2006 while having our vacation in Brazil.

Our Kids are Ann-Kathrin (14 years) and Thomas (12 years).

Both learn by doing home schooling with the German Institute ILS Hamburg. Therefore we have always some Volunteers with us.

What do we in Bolivia:

Since January 1999 we work for the First Baptist Church (MBI) in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. We administrate the "Wayne Walker" orphanage, 1,5 hours from Santa Cruz. Our little village Los Chacos gives place for about 100 Families, a School, a first aid Station, and a catholic Church.

Who owns the orphanage:

The orphanage is from the International Baptist Ministries (MBI) in Santa Cruz.

The Orphanage was founded by the US Organization Homeless Children International and was named to "Wayne Walker" who died during raising funds for the project affected by cancer.

The 15 children (12 boys, 3 girls) are lodged in the first unit placed in the 150 acres property.

Together with the stuff from Santa Cruz and Los Chacos we form the direction.

From January to October 2007 Sara Schäuble de Germany was in charge of the Orphanage. This was necessary, because the Family Pohl (which were responsible since 1999 to 2006) had to go to Germany. But later the Pohls decided not to come back, so Miss Delina came in October 2007 in change of Sara.

Wolfgang is administrating the dairy farm, which produces at time 800 Liter Milk per day. The Herd has 180 head. Goal will be finance the orphanage with this income.

Beside this, he administrates the local Drink water Cooperative.

Beside the work as housewife and mother Dorothea is organizing all the church work.

Than she has a hart for the women in Los Chacos. She want to help the woman with a project she started, so the women of Los Chacos can have their own income by painting

Together we are responsible:

Since January 2007 we are in charge of the little Baptist church in Los Chacos.

The church forms part of the "Primera Iglesia Bautista" (Fist Baptist church) in Santa Cruz, who now is called "Ministerio Bautista Internacional", MBI ( in Spanish).

Here we are located in the town Los Chacos (see red flash)

Distance Santa Cruz - Montero: 36 miles.

Distance Montero - Los Chacos: 23 miles, 5 of them gravel road.

Time to drive Santa Cruz - Los Chacos: about 1 1/2 hours.
